Privacy policy
Published Smartrobe policy · Last updated October 4, 2026.
Smartrobe ("we", "our", "us") is a wardrobe and styling app. This policy explains what information the Smartrobe app and its related web pages (such as poll pages at p.smartrobe.com) collect, why, who we share it with, and the choices you have.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your wardrobe, photos or messages to advertise to you.
1. Information you give us
- Account details: your email address and password (stored only as a secure hash), or your Apple ID sign-in if you use Sign in with Apple; your display name.
- Wardrobe: photos of your clothes and the details you or our AI add (category, colours, pattern, fabric, brand, size, price, how much you like a piece, whether it fits, laundry and care status, matching sets).
- Profile and preferences: style preferences, gender (used to tailor suggestions; you can leave it unspecified), sizes, home city, temperature unit and language.
- Outfits and planning: outfits you save, plan or log as worn, notes you write on outfits, your outfit calendar, and outfit photos you choose to log what you wore.
- Photos of you (only when you choose): photos for Look Check, for your avatar and virtual try-on, and outfit photos you log. These can show your face and body.
- Trips: destinations, dates, activities and packing lists.
- Shopping: pieces you check with "Should I buy this?", product links you paste, and your wishlist.
- Messages to the stylist: what you write in the stylist chat.
- Polls: the question and outfit photos you choose for a "Which one?" poll.
- Referrals: your referral code and, if you use a friend's code, which code you used.
2. Information collected automatically
- Approximate location (only with your permission): when you allow location while using the app, your device's approximate position is used to fetch the local weather. We don't store your coordinates; we may save the name of your city as your weather location. You can use the app without location by entering a city.
- Calendar (only with your permission): the app reads your calendar on your device to suggest outfits for upcoming events and to time "What did you wear?" reminders. Your calendar is not uploaded. If you plan an outfit for a specific event, that event's title is saved with the plan.
- Usage information: which features you use and when (for example "outfit saved" or "trip created"), your time zone, and when you were last active. We use this to run and improve the app, and to time notifications.
- Device and notification data: a push notification token so we can send the notifications you've allowed.
- Purchases: your subscription status and purchase history, provided by Apple or Google through RevenueCat. We never see your payment card details.
- Advertising measurement (only if you allow tracking): if you allow tracking when iOS asks, Meta's SDK may receive your device's advertising identifier along with app events (such as installs, app opens and purchases) so we can see which of our ads brought people to Smartrobe. If you don't allow tracking, the advertising identifier is not shared. You can change this at any time in iOS Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking.
3. How we use information
- To provide the app: your wardrobe, outfit ideas, weather-based suggestions, trips and packing lists, calendar, laundry, wishlist, polls and sharing.
- To power AI features: recognising clothes in photos, suggesting outfits, Look Check feedback, the stylist chat, avatars and try-ons, trip packing, "Should I buy this?" and finding your pieces in outfit photos.
- To send notifications you've allowed: your daily outfit, "What did you wear?" reminders, trial reminders, referral and poll updates, and occasional wardrobe tips. You control these in Settings and in iOS Settings.
- To manage subscriptions, free trials and referral rewards.
- To keep the service secure, prevent abuse (for example, limiting repeat votes on polls), and fix problems.
- To understand which features are used so we can improve them.
4. AI processing
When you use an AI feature, the data needed for that request is sent to our AI providers, OpenAI and Google (Gemini). Depending on the feature this can include clothing photos, photos of you that you chose to analyse, wardrobe details, gender, style preferences, weather, trip destinations and your messages to the stylist. We do not send your name or email address with these requests.
Our providers process this data to return a result. Under their API terms they do not use it to train their models; they may keep it for a limited time for abuse and misuse monitoring (OpenAI: up to 30 days) before deleting it.
For outfit suggestions that include shopping ideas, OpenAI may search the web for products; the search uses the description of the piece (for example "navy wool blazer, men's"), not your personal details.
You can turn AI features off at any time in Settings > Privacy > AI Features. Photos you've already uploaded stay in your wardrobe until you delete them.
5. Who we share information with
We share information only with service providers that help us run Smartrobe, and only what they need:
| Provider | What for | What they receive |
|---|---|---|
| Supabase | Database, sign-in, file storage, server functions | Your account and app data (hosted in the cloud, encrypted in transit and at rest) |
| OpenAI | AI features and product search | The data for each AI request (see section 4) |
| Google (Gemini) | AI features | The data for each AI request (see section 4) |
| RevenueCat | Subscriptions and purchase status | An app-specific user ID and your purchase history |
| Apple | Sign in with Apple, in-app purchases, push notifications | What's needed for those services |
| Expo | Delivering push notifications | Your notification token and the notification text |
| OpenWeatherMap | Weather forecasts | Your approximate location or city, without your identity |
| Open-Meteo | City search | The city name you type |
| Wikipedia / Wikimedia | Destination photos for trips | The destination name, without your identity |
| Meta | Ad measurement, only if you allow tracking | Advertising identifier and app events (see section 2) |
We may also share information if required by law, to protect the rights and safety of our users or others, or as part of a merger or acquisition (in which case this policy would continue to apply to your information).
6. Things you choose to share
- "Which one?" polls: anyone with a poll's link can see your first name, your question and the outfit photos you chose. Votes are anonymous; to prevent repeat voting we keep only a one-way code derived from the voter's network address, never the address itself. Polls close after 3 days, you can delete them at any time, and deleting your account deletes them.
- Sharing a look: when you share a look card to Instagram, TikTok, Snapchat, Facebook or anywhere else, the image is handed to that app and their privacy policy applies.
- Referral codes: when a friend joins with your code, we may tell you their first name.
Photos are stored at long, unguessable web addresses so the app and your poll pages can display them. Anyone you give such an address to could view that photo.
7. How long we keep information
We keep your information while you have an account. You can delete individual items (clothes, outfits, photos, trips, polls, wishlist pieces) at any time. When you delete your account, we delete your account and all associated data and files from our systems; copies held by providers are deleted according to their own retention periods (see section 4). Records we must keep by law, such as purchase records held by Apple or Google, are kept by them.
8. Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live (including under the GDPR in the EU/UK, the LGPD in Brazil and US state laws such as the CCPA), you can:
- access and get a copy of your data;
- correct it;
- delete it, including deleting your account in Settings > Privacy > Delete Account;
- object to or restrict some processing, and turn off AI processing in Settings;
- withdraw permissions (location, calendar, photos, camera, notifications, tracking) at any time in iOS Settings;
- complain to your local data protection authority.
To make a request, contact us at the address below. We'll respond within the time the law requires.
Our legal bases (where the GDPR or LGPD applies): providing the service you asked for (contract); your consent (AI processing, location, calendar, notifications, tracking); and our legitimate interests in keeping the app secure, preventing abuse and improving it.
9. International transfers
Our providers may process data in the United States and other countries. Where required, transfers are protected by safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.
10. Security
Data is encrypted in transit and at rest, and access rules ensure each account can only read its own data. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong password and keep your device secure.
11. Children
Smartrobe is not intended for children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. We'll change the "Last updated" date and, for significant changes, let you know in the app.
